Blog Feature: Live the New Economy

16 Feb

Live the New Economy is a blog about a family preparing for the father’s transition from military service into the civilian world , and what they need to do to be comfortable financially without the guarantee of a government paycheck. Or at least that’s what it started out to be about. Like most personal finance blogs it’s grown and changed a bit as the writer has grown and changed.

That’s not to say they aren’t still prepping for the transition to civilian life, just that the blog has become about more than that. I love this post on Finding Balance.

Happy New Year

01 Jan

New Year, new you? New Year’s Resolutions? Are you reflective, or are you making plans and setting goals? Or is it just another day, albeit one that comes with a day off from work?

I don’t make resolutions. I do like to reflect and plan on a fairly regular basis, so why not as the calendar year rolls over.

You’ve heard some of these goals before, because I just have to keep plugging away- work on my writing, submit more, review our budget, adjust for changing circumstances, volunteer. I can’t do it all, but I can do quite a bit.

New Year Goals

01 Jan

I rarely make New Year’s resolutions as they always seem like promises that you have permission to break. I did know one woman who made one made a resolution to give up chocolate. And she did, permanently. That will never be me.

But a new year is as good a time as any to evaluate my goals and make some changes. This year, I want to grow all three of my blogs. Here I need to maintain. On Life by Pets I need to get on a regular MWF schedule. Plus Fiction in 50 is turning in to a contest.
