I don’t care how young and hip the business. I don’t care how much they use social media. The hiring manager at just about any job (retail being the one place I could see this not being the case) is going to be over 25 years old. That means that you need to use proper grammar and spelling in your resume. There should be no text speak, and for goodness sakes, especially if you’re going to have any contact with the public what so ever, there should be NO swearing. Please demonstrate that you have at least a little sense.

Movie Review: Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Scott Pilgrim vs the World was an odd movie of contradictions for me. Subject matter wise, it’s a movie I knew I would enjoy. I definitely like comic books and fun fight scenes and all of that. And then I watched it, and it was full of those awful embarrassing awkward moments that make me want to look away from the screen. I hate movies filled with those moments. And yet, I enjoyed Scott Pilgrim. The awkward moments were frequent, but not long and not so intense that I found myself cringing, so the fun of it all won out.
#TheVoice (s2 ep15)
I have mixed feelings about Chris Mann. I will not argue that the boy has a voice- an amazing voice. But he has not been able to tone down the opera to sing pop. He needs to either sing some heavy metal (all the best metal singers had operatic training) or embrace who he is and look to Boccelli as a role model.
I was positive, absolutely positive, that Erin Willet was going home last night. I knew America wasn’t going to vote her through, and I was certain Blake would choose RaeLynn. I was thrilled to be proven wrong.
#TheVoice (s2 ep14)
Think back to the first episode of the season, when they advertised the albums of last season’s contestants. There were four- one for the winner from Adam’s team, one for Christina’s finalist, and two -TWO- from Blake Shelton’s team. (Cee Lo’s finalist does not have an album.)
Tonight proved once again why Blake is the best coach when it comes to supporting his team. Take the two team performances. Did you even notice Christina’s team on her song? No, it was all about her. But Blake did not take a single solo. His team performance was all about the team.
#MythBusters (ep 184)
The thing I liked the least about Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was the preponderance of hamster ball scenarios, so I wasn’t certain what I was going to think of last night’s Jamie and Adam myth. But overall, I enjoyed it, and the reminder that professional trapeze artists are freaky strong. I’m not certain Adam helped the climb at all.
The build team built a rocket powered barrel- kind of. I liked that they had to go to an expert to replicate the results of the myth.
Am I the only person that misses the myths where everyone worked together?
Seattle Restaurant Week: Poppy
It’s Seattle Restaurant Week (3 courses, $28), and we always try to take advantage. We like to go to a place that we would otherwise never eat at, usually for price reasons. Additionally, we like to find menu items that push us. That means no steakhouses, because we already know we like steak. Instead, we go for things we might not otherwise try.
Last night we ate at Poppy inSeattle’s Capital Hill District. It was one of the best Seattle Restaurant Week meals we’ve ever had, with everyone please with their appetizers, entrees, and deserts. I’d highly recommend it.
#TheVoice (s2 ep13)
Erin Martin is gone, and Tony Lucca stayed. I’m pretty happy with last night’s results. And if you were judging by who had more emotion (and nerves) singing for their spot, I agree that Katrina had more than Kim. I still think Kim was the better singer, but wasn’t surprised that the voters who put Pip and James through didn’t vote for an older, overweight woman.
I was sad to see Tony Vincent go. He is infinitely more talented than James, but I couldn’t argue with Cee Lo’s choice of Cheesa. She picked the right song with the right notes.
#TheVoice (s2 ep12)
I don’t know if I should name my favorites from last night, as last week I seemed to curse the two best performers from Blake’s team. But that would be boring.
Team CeeLo had two outstanding performances in Juliet Simms and Jamar Rogers. I’d like to see Tony Vincent go through. But honestly, as long as Erin Martin goes home, I’ll be okay.
No one on Team Adam stood out. I’d like to see Kim Yarbrough and Tony Lucca go through. Katrina Parker and Pip would be my other choices, but I mostly feel kind of “eh” about this team.
MythBusters (ep 183)
Square tires? It’s classic MythBusters, but did they really say a smooth ride was plausible? Because if so, they should check their editing, with the parting shot of Adam and Jamie, saying let’s walk, it’s more comfortable. That statement belies any plausibility of a smooth ride.
I miss the days of one big myth, with the whole team working on it. In the “old days”, the MythBusters would have tested if two cars could get stuck together, and then after failing to make it happen, they would’ve presented the evidence from the crash site experts and moved on to maneuvers.
