Thinking Before Shooting

30 Jan

I know that times are tough and cities have been cutting budgets, but when you’re a suburb of someplace as large as Philadelphia, maybe you could have more than one animal control officer? Or perhaps a deal with county authorities or those working in neighboring towns? Or a few of your police officers could also be trained in animal control, given the tools to separate fighting animals.

A minor tragedy, in which two dogs were shot by police (in front of a high school no less) could have been averted with just a little training, and maybe some common sense.

Blog Feature: Pittieful Love

I love Pit Bulls. I do not currently have one, but I still love them. have never met a Pit that didn’t respond to me kisses and head butts. This is one reason I love Pittieful Love. They are dedicated to helping get the message of how great these dogs are out to the wider world. Besides blogging, they also foster, and, of course, have their own Pittie love.

This year has been a rough year for the family, losing their first dog, but they have found a new member of the family, and this week, he gets Squeeky Clean.

Blog Feature: Of Pit Bulls and Patience

09 Jun

Of Pit Bulls and Patience is the blog of a dog trainer which focuses on her two dogs- Skye, a Pit Bull and Parker, a Schnauzer mix- as well as some of the dogs she is currently working with. She also gives us lots of pictures of the dogs, which we all know, I love.

She has been really busy lately, so there haven’t been too many posts, but What Goes Around got posted on Friday, getting us all up to date on weddings, French Bulldogs, Dachsunds, dog aggression, and Yorkies.

That is a lot of dogs for a summer.

Blog Feature: Two Pitties in the City

14 Jan

Given a Chicago alderman’s renewed attempt to ban Pit Bulls in the city, I want to highlight the wonderful people at Two Pitties in the City.

I love Pits. I think they are absolutely wonderful, sweet, and loving dogs. It is not the fault of the dogs that they’re currently the breed of choice for idiots.

The people at Two Pitties are also the founders of SociaBulls (look for them on FaceBook), a group that takes their Pits (and other dogs) on large group walks throughout the city. Hopefully, they will be able to counter some of the negative press.
