American Idol: James Durbin needs to go

07 May

I’m okay with when Casey Abrams went home. Jacob Lusk, whatever, don’t care. But now, James Durbin needs to go. This week’s performance was AWFUL. And I may be the only person on the planet who likes metal and watches American Idol, so trust me when I say he doesn’t have the vocal chops to sing that kind of music, and I really wish Steven Tyler would say so. He doesn’t have the range or the gravel.

I would have thought he could have pulled off something 30 Seconds to Mars like, but, well, see my comments about this week’s performance.

American Idol (3)

Too much going on in the real world to write about anything important. So we are back to American Idol. Koala boy Casey chose the best Elton John song, “Your Song” and was wonderful. So glad he’s still around.

I was not surprised by Naima going. I was more surprised by how long it took, considering she did not make the original top 10.

As for Thia, I thought the judges did her a disservice by putting her through after Hollywood. Nothing to do with talent- just imagine what a force she could have been in a couple more years.

American Idol (2)

A few notes about this week’s American Idol.

-Jennifer’s eye shadow on Wednesday night scared me. It was like she was a blue raccoon.

-No one was spectacular on Wednesday night, but no one was awful, either. And that leads to bad results for the performers at the beginning of the show, because the audience doesn’t remember them.

-Which means it wasn’t too surprising that Casey was at the bottom. However, as soon as Ryan said that, I knew the judges would use their save. I don’t think they would have for Stefano, but for Casey, it was a no-brainer.

American Idol

I am watching American Idol this year, from Hollywood week on. I never watch the auditions because I hate seeing them make fun of the bad singers. Overall, I am pretty happy with the top 13. None of it was a huge surprise. I’m cheering for Casey Abrams to take 2nd because he plays upright bass and reminds me of my husband.

I cheer for 2nd because we determined long ago that the most talented person always ends up in 2nd, because they will still sell albums months after the show ends, and they are forced into a worse contract.
