Watching The Colony. It is one of those things that, I guess, can never be realistic enough. There are camera people there, and you know you signed up for an experiment. No matter what stress they put you under, you know it is not real, and that its for a limited time.
Tonight’s example- we’re told in the introduction that they are supposed to “rebuild” but they are afraid of people finding out that they are rebuilding and wanting to come to the area. Apparently, they know how to rebuild a house. They have no idea about rebuilding a society.
I watched and enjoyed the first season, but haven't been following the second. I like the premise but agree it can't be all that realistic. And attempts to make it more realistic would be… Regrettable. I watched a prank show whose name I can't remember, where an unsuspecting person was attacked on a bus by "space aliens", and was terrified…because if it had been me as the prankee, I probably would have seriously injured one of the costumed alien actors.
We saw prank show highlights where a guy thought he witnessed a murder, so he rushed and tackled the murderer. They had to call the prank early.
I miss some of the participants from last year. At least this year they aren't all inventors/handy men. There's a model. But still, I'd be lucky to be stuck with you. I'd most likely end up with a bunch of admins and technical writers and we wouldn't survive more than a couple of days on our own.
I just started watching season 2 of The Colony. I totally dig it, but am confused as hell. They say it's super real to them, and they start believing their lives back home aren't real or whatever. So, if this were me, and I 100% believed this were a real scenario, I wouldn't have sprayed the attacking looters with smoke/air, I would have started stabbing people. Like, are you really going to put someone who is trying to steal what little you have in a headlock? You're outnumbered roughly 4-1. Start stabbing people in the jugulars.
