Okay, I guess it made some sense. All the people America voted through to the semis were the people they voted through to the finals. Its reasonable. I am still annoyed. Nakia was the best performer, pretty much from the beginning. Funny thing is, I’m betting on Vicci to win.

I like the fast pace on The Voice. My only issue is this part of the format. Even at the semi-final level, singers are only competing against the other singer from their team, not all the singers. Nakia was certainly top 4 material.

ReallyAmerica? You left it to Cee Lo to save Nakia? I guess that made it an easy choice for him. I thought Vicki had a good performance last night (and the sweet spot), but since only one performer from each team makes the finals, it’s got to be Nakia for team Cee Lo.

For once, neither of Christina’s or Adam’s singers were really inspiring last night, so either option for each would be fine.

And as for team Blake, I think Dia needs to be the one in the finals.Xeniais adorable, but she’s just not ready yet.

Take God out of it. We aren’t deciding church policy, we’re deciding a state law in theUS-a place that clearly spells out in it’s founding documents a distinct separation of Church and State. God doesn’t matter when it comes to our laws.

As for the “religious exemptions” the Republicans are supposedly asking for, do they not know how the law works? A church already has the right to refuse to marry anyone. The only thing they can’t do is refuse to rent their church out for a gay marriage if they rent it out for other random marriages.

I am saddened, but sadly, not surprised, by the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of Wal-Mart in the huge class action case for gender discrimination that was brought against them. The court decided that these women did not deserve the protection of a class action, that the interests of Wal-Mart outweighed the interests of millions of women.

But it is a decision that makes sense for a court that has decided corporations are citizens, and that in most cases, they are more equal than the rest of us, or at least more equal than those of us with less money.

When plans for the HBO Game of Thrones series were announced, I had friends who became very excited and followed all production news religiously. I hadn’t read the books, had no plans to read the books, and really didn’t understand the fervor.

Now that the first season of Game of Thrones has ended, I understand. HBO has announced a 6 season series for one of my favorite authors and books, Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, to air in 2013. Now I’ll be the one following production news and getting giddy over advanced previews (and hopefully another novel or two by Gaiman).

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there, but especially to my father. I know I don’t call, or even email, as often as I should/ you would like, but I do love you.

My father once made my neice an adorable play house out of boxes from his new washer and dryer. He felt bad that he’d never been able to do that for me. I almost rolled my eyes. He built a fort in our back yard with a tire bridge and converted our barn to a playhouse. Who needed boxes? I always knew I was loved.

I’ve owned Once Upon a Time… for a few years now, but didn’t get around to playing it until recently. And while it is a game, so someone does win, winning is secondary to game play.

Each player has 7 cards with fairy tale elements on them, and one or two cards with endings. The goal is to tell a story that uses all your elements and leads to one of your Happily Ever Afters. Other players have cards that will let them interrupt and take over the story, steering it toward their endings, creating a convoluted (but fun) tale.

This is an older thread that I wanted to link back to because I think it contains some very good information.

The gist: even if you’re unhappy and not working to your potential, it’s not a good idea to quit you job if you don’t have another job lined up or savings in place to cover your bills.

Also, people lose a lot of sympathy for you when you play the I’m too special, you don’t agree with me so I’m going to take my ball and go home card. Everyone is unique- the corporate world doesn’t care; grow up.

Bonus Hockey Content: Lord Stanley’s Cup

The Bruins deserved Lord Stanley’s Cup. And Tim Thomas most definitely deserved the Conn Smythe. It was a hard fought series, and yes, Canucks fans were disappointed not to win their first Cup, but the Bruins outplayed them, plain and simple.

And losing a game, no matter how big, is not a reason to riot. Very few people actually participated in destructive behavior, but our 5 minutes of fame society meant that a lot of people were trying to get pictures, and ignored police requests to clear the area, increasing the risk, even if they weren’t technically doing anything wrong.

I think what I like best about the retrospective shows is when they highlight myths I only barely remember- the ones that aren’t on every other retrospective show they do. Last night, it was the first myth to make their countdown that made us smile. We barely remembered the landing a plane with just an air traffic controller to talk you down. Not only is it an impressive result, it reminds you how skilled air traffic controllers have to be. This guy not only knows his own maximum stress job, he apparently has the control panel of a plane memorized.
