No new content in last night’s Bug Special. I don’t mind that they sometimes group similar type myths into themed specials. They did that last week, too, though last week there was also plenty of new content. I do wish, when they did these theme shows, if they aren’t going to show us a new myth, that maybe they show us some additional content on each myth- maybe a minute or two of footage that for each myth that had previously been on the cutting room floor. That way there is something for those of us who watch every episode.

#MythBusters (ep 192)
Apparently, if you are going to shoot with a gun in each hand, you should fire simultaneously. Still, that puts firing two guns at the “as effective as” one gun point, using twice the ammo.
But I have a methodology question. They are taking their number of points and dividing it by the time it took. When not firing simultaneously, shouldn’t it take twice as long? One shot at a time, with two guns, should take twice as long as one gun, or simultaneous fire with two guns.
So is it really less effective? Or does it just take longer?
#MythBusters (ep 191)
I understand that in some circumstances, you could bring a knife to a gunfight, but I think I would skip that experience anyway. As for the myth about reaction being faster than action, I understand why they tested it the way they did, but I remember that myth always having the reactor being the more skilled- so I think skill and skill differential might matter.
Chinese rocket arrows are cool. No, they aren’t super accurate, but I don’t think that would have prevented them from being used. Warfare did not used to be quite as bloody as it is nowadays.
#MythBusters (ep190)
I love bubble wrap as much as the next person, and maybe love popping the bubbles in bubble wrap more than most people over the age of 10, but I cannot imagine wrapping myself in it, let alone then jumping off a building. So what that all boils down to is I am glad Adam is okay, and the myth was busted.
As for the build team myth, sometimes I want MythBusters to remember it’s own history. Adam and Jamie built a working ejector seat. I would have loved to seen the ejector seat roll over myth tried with that.
#MythBusters (ep 189)
I tend to enjoy the mailbag specials, and last night was no exception. There was not a whole lot of myth busting, though there were some nice explosions, and shooting watermelons looks cool on the high speed camera. I was also not surprised that Kari kicked butt on the trivia contest.
At the same time, the last clip of the show, Kari’s originally unaired most embarrassing moment, from back before the build team were regulars, and she was “just” one of the background crew, reminded me of the pre everything must end with a bang MythBusters, and I miss it.
#MythBusters (ep188)
I know the MythBusters love guns and gun myths, but if they are now able to get the rights to do Burn Notice myths, why was this the first one? I was not surprised the bullets through the undercarriage myth was busted, even though the components looked good.
The most important part of the surfing a shockwave myth came at the end, in their attempt to make it work. They coated a blanket in bed liner. Now I want to know if a blanket coated in bed liner would protect me from a blast. Exactly how strong is bed liner?
#TheVoice (s2 Finale)
Congratulations to Jermaine Paul, winner of season two of The Voice.
Since I have no beef with how the voting turned out, I want to talk about the show and differences from last year.
Both seasons have featured duets with the contestants and coaches. What I missed this year was the meaningful duets of contestants and other singers. Last year, Javier sang with Stevie Nicks, and it was amazing.
I also missed each of the contestants getting their own original song. It is nice to make a song your own, but it’s better when the song actually is your own.
#TheVoice (s2 ep20)
I have to say, I think it’s anybody’s game except Chris Mann’s. I feel bad, because he has an amazing voice, but he honestly doesn’t have much range. He talked in the beginning on how he didn’t want to have to change himself, but he wanted to sing pop- well, he can’t sing pop without toning himself down or at least learning to loosen up.
Tony Lucca’s arrangement for 99 Problems was absolutely perfect. If they hadn’t told me it was a Jay-Z song, I would have thought it was the blues.
Jermaine and Juliet also had really great nights.
#MythBusters (ep 187)
I love the water heater myths, though they do make me really wish I had gas heat at my house so I could switch to a tankless water heater. (They have them for electric, too, but they aren’t very energy efficient.). And I know I shouldn’t speculate, but given the absolute elaborate setup they had for stopping the water heater cannon, what do you want to be this was the myth where they sent a cannonball into a neighborhood and through houses?
I don’t know that I’d call rocket man confirmed. Survivability was pretty much a zero in that scenario.
#TheVoice (s2 ep19)
I went 50/50. I love Juliet Simms, so I was happy to see her go through. I was surprised by the Chris Mann vote. He definitely has a voice, no one can argue that, but his stated intention (back during the blind auditions) was to sing pop. He has been unable to let go enough to do that well. But maybe the experience will teach him that it’s okay to be an opera singer.
It was nice to see Adam and Cee Lo learn from the Nakia experience and assign their points in a way that was meaningful to them.
