    Gratitude Journal #27

After getting the post up on Sunday evening two weeks in a row, I skipped a week entirely. But here I am, back on Sunday evening. Go me. I accept that I skipped last week. I had a medical procedure done two Fridays ago, and while it was a very minor and common procedure, my particular medical history meant it was more painful for me than it is for a lot of people. I basically did nothing other than read from late Friday afternoon through last Monday. And even with that, by the end of my work day on Tuesday, I was pretty exhausted. So that is my excuse for…

    Gratitude Journal #26

Does managing to write the weekly Gratitude post on Sunday evening two weekends in a row mean my plan of moving the computer to the office (to go with my giant new monitor) is working? Maybe. Maybe. I will be honest, this week it is a little hard to come up with small things to be grateful for, or perhaps I should say new small things to be grateful for. We are over half-way through the year, and I have so far managed not to repeat. And I will not officially repeat tonight, but I will be adding a new feature of “grateful one more time”, because there are things,…

    Gratitude Journal #25

It is Sunday evening, and I am actually getting this written/posted! I have decided to try something new. On Thursday, I bought myself a giant (and I do mean giant) new monitor in order to create a docking station for my laptop in the office. Since I am working from home on Fridays, it is nice to have a big screen on which to do my work. Spreadsheets on laptop sized screens aren’t always the best. Anyway, my thought is that I am going to leave the laptop actually plugged in in the office the majority of the time. I can use my Surface in the bedroom. So if I…

    Gratitude Journal #24

I had every intention of writing my gratitude post last night. I cannot tell you how many times during the day I thought to myself that I would actually have the chance to write the gratitude post on Sunday evening, like I had been wanting to do. It was a lazy day. There were no plans. I was focused on writing and online stuff that needed to be done. And then, after dinner, I promptly fell asleep. I knew I was tired; I had not realized exactly how tired. And so, the gratitude post for last week comes once again on a Monday morning instead of a Sunday evening. Gratitude…

    Gratitude Journal #23

I had thought that maybe I would have a chance to write last week’s Gratitude Journal yesterday afternoon. That was when I thought the conference I was attending this weekend was going to end around 4p, and since my flight home was not until 8p, I would have a couple of hours to write. But the programming for the conference went all the way until 6:15p. I actually left an hour earlier to make sure I made it to the airport on time. But basically, it resulted in no time to write yesterday. Normally I try to make the Gratitude Journal about the little things in my life – Starbucks…

    Gratitude Journal #22

I honestly had planned on writing my gratitude journal last night. Really. But then my night ended in a phone call with Pop Tart instead – something all on it’s own to be grateful for. And I did not write. It happens. But I was grateful for a few things this week. Gratitude Entry #50 – CBD Oil for Dogs Listen, this last week was the 4th of July. And I live in an area where fireworks are legal. And not just the little ones, big ones. And I have dogs, dogs that have lived all of their lives in urban or suburban areas. These are not dogs who are…

    Gratitude Journal #21

Remember last week when I wrote that I thought doing my gratitude journal on Sunday nights would be a great way to end/start my week, as long as I remembered to do it? Yeah, I forgot yesterday. Or, I did not completely forget. In the morning I thought about it, but by the end of the day, I just plugged myself into a computer game and watching the Democrat debates (because I did not have a chance to watch them live). Gratitude journal was completely forgotten, until this morning. Gratitude Entry #48 – Unexpected time with friends Mid-week last week, the decision was made that my BFF would come hang…

    Gratitude Journal #20

If I can make this work, it seems like ending/beginning each week with my gratitude journal would be a great plan. So I am going to try to make this a regular Sunday night thing.  After the excitement of the last few weeks, this week has been fairly quiet. But that does not mean there are not things to be grateful for. (In fact, a quiet week is something to be grateful for all on its own.) Gratitude Entry #46 – Baby Birthday Parties         This week, the babies of two different friends turned one year old. I got to help celebrate the birthdays of both of them this week. Watching…

    Gratitude Journal #19

Last week, I commented that it had been a crazy two weeks… Well, the crazy continued for one more. I knew it was going to. This is standard end of the year crazy for my job, but it is still crazy. I am quite happy now that most of the big events for work are over for the year (there is still the promotion party to go, but that is on a much smaller scale ). And now, I get to concentrate on the actual main part of my job – finances, as we are at the end of the state two year budget cycle, and our fiscal year/biennium closes…

    Gratitude Journal #18

It has been a crazy two weeks. I had every intention of writing a gratitude post last week, and then the week was just gone. And I kept thinking about it this week, and kept having the intention to write the post, and suddenly, it is Sunday afternoon. I realized I needed to stop what I was doing and write, otherwise, I would not only go two weeks without writing a gratitude post, but I would not get up any content at all this week, and that is most definitely not what I want. Writing is like so many other things, the more you make time for it, the better…
