Gratitude

Gratitude Journal #30

A little later than ideal for a Sunday night, but once again, here at my computer, remembering to write down little things I am grateful for. And while this journal is about the little things, I am going to mention one big thing here tonight. We have our friend E visiting us from Sweden for a week and a half. We have known him for close to 25 years. In addition to being our friend, he has been a business partner and roommate over the years. Having him here just adds something to our lives. Talking over google chat every couple of weeks is nice, but it is even better to sit around and play a board game or chat around the fire pit.

The purpose of the gratitude journal is to help remind me of the little things in life that are good, because that is an important. But I also do not want to forget to be grateful, in the moment, for the big things.

Gratitude Entry #70 – My new phone case
Last week I lost my phone. It was my own stupid fault. I set my phone on top of my car, got distracted, and then got in the car and drove away with my phone still on the top of my car, though who knows for how long. Returning to where it happened only 15 minutes later, I was unable to find the phone.
This led to having to replace my driver’s license, credit cards, phone, and phone case. I am incredibly grateful for how easy that was. For my phone case, I chose to go with a company that let me design my own. It arrived yesterday, and I love it. On the front is my favorite wedding photo, which is mostly a picture of Moree and Smokey. On the back is a picture of Junebug and Larry on the trail we walk.
The pictures are a little grainier than ideal, but still, given the cost ($25) and the fact that I got to design it, I love it.

Gratitude Entry #71 – A good book
You might notice that this month on the blog, I am posting two book covers every day of books that I love, have been important in my life, etc. In addition, I read and do book reviews as a side gig. Books are a major part of my life. I have started making some additional time to read books I want to read that are not through the book review site.
I am currently listening to the new Stephenson book, Fall or Dodge in Hell, on some long drives. I also finally got around to reading the second book in Elliot Kay’s Wandering Monsters series this weekend. They are very different books, but both are wonderful and providing me a great escape.
