Gratitude

Gratitude Journal #20

If I can make this work, it seems like ending/beginning each week with my gratitude journal would be a great plan. So I am going to try to make this a regular Sunday night thing.
After the excitement of the last few weeks, this week has been fairly quiet. But that does not mean there are not things to be grateful for. (In fact, a quiet week is something to be grateful for all on its own.)

Gratitude Entry #46 – Baby Birthday Parties
This week, the babies of two different friends turned one year old. I got to help celebrate the birthdays of both of them this week. Watching one year olds eat cake is truly one of the best things in life. They get frosting everywhere, and they do not care. It was so much fun being able to celebrate this milestone with friends over the week, and I am grateful to be included.

Gratitude Entry #47 – Tried and True Recipes
I do not do much cooking of any sort, even though I am the baker in the house. Today, I made banana bread cupcakes, white chocolate chip cookies, and enchilada pasta for dinner. (I believe this means it will be 3-6 months before I cook again.) All of these are recipes I have made before, recipes I trust to come out tasty, as long as I have good ingredients and do not screw up. And, in fact, they all turned out exactly as expected – tasty.
This may seem silly, but since I do not cook often, it is extra nice for me that when I do cook, it turns out. C is overall a better cook than I am (though he does not bake), and for the most part, we are both happy with him doing most of the cooking duties. But I can cook. And I like making things that my friends and family enjoy eating. But since I am not the most adventurous cook out there, it is really nice to have a small stockpile of recipes that I know will turn out every time I make them.
