Gratitude Journal #37
Again with the no real reason for not writing last week, other than I just didn’t come into the computer room and sit down and type. I had even talked with my writing group that morning about the things I might be grateful for. Oh well, every other week is not too bad for writing, and I am remembering to be grateful on a regular basis, which is the real point of this.
Gratitude Entry #90 – Wedding dress shopping with K
I adore my cousin K. She remains the only baby I ever held on the day they were born. It was just a couple of weeks before my 16th birthday. She came up two weeks ago to attend a major conference for professional reasons. And since she is engaged and planning a wedding in about 18 months, she asked if I wanted to do some dress shopping with her. Please note that I LOVE wedding dress shopping. Most shopping I don’t really like, but for the very rare occasions, like shopping for a wedding dress, a home, or a new pet, I am all in. So I was thrilled to get to go with her. I messed up taking pictures at the first shop (though did get pictures for the favorite dress, so that was the important part), but otherwise, I mostly just enjoyed hanging out with my cousin, talking to her about wedding plans, and trying to help her figure out what she wants. Dress shopping like this can be emotionally exhausting, but I really am grateful for the time I got to spend with K.
Gratitude Entry #91 – Cruffins
What are cruffins you ask? They are cinnamon rolls, but made with croissant pastry and baked in muffin tins. They are amazingly delicious. These were made by B, who is not only a fabulous baker, but is half of M&B, the wonderful friends who let C and I live with them for 8 months last year. We were having our writing group at their house last weekend, and luckily, B and made cruffins the night before, so in addition to great company last Sunday morning, I had some of the best pastries ever.
Gratitude Entry #92 – Sunny days in November
I live in the Pacific Northwest. Once fall and winter weather hit, there is very little actual sun. Most of the time, you spend grateful that the rain is really just more of “the air is wet” instead of really pouring down. So when you get those few sunny days, you must truly enjoy them. And this week, we had one. Wednesday was this amazingly clear day with beautiful, blue skies. Sure it was crisp, and caused Thursday to be even chillier, but still. Wednesday was lovely. And I was grateful for it.
Gratitude Entry #93 – Dog coats
The truth is, it does not really get cold enough here for the dogs to NEED coats. In fact, even when it is raining out, Junebug almost certainly does not need a coat. But Larry is smaller, build a bit more like a sighthound, and has a pretty thin coat. So I worry a bit more about him. Which meant that when I decided we should go on a long walk Saturday morning, and saw that the temperature would be below 40 the whole time, the dogs got put in their coats. That way, I do not worry about them being too cold. And if it starts raining on us on the walk, I do not have to worry overly much about them. It maybe silly. But, I like knowing they are warm. Plus, they look super cute.
