What I’m Reading: I’m In Canada Edition

While you are reading this, I am enjoying a weekend away in fabulous Victoria, BC. I am off once again on a writers’ retreat- something I very much need if I’m going to accomplish my ambitious writing goals for the year. But just because I’m not at home doesn’t mean I can’t share with you some great blog posts from this last week. Just know that anything written after noon on Thursday isn’t going to makeread more…

Top 12 of 2012

Happy New Year! I love that we use this time of year for reflection and goal setting. Okay, I try to do at least some of that year round, but I always love the idea of starting on a brand new slate. 2013, here I come. However, before you can know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve been. So today is one of reflection. We’ll look at the top 12 posts of 2012read more…

What I’m Reading: No Apocalypse for You

I’ll be honest- I kind of put off putting this round up together on the hopes that the world would end, and I wouldn’t need to do the work. Plus, Friday was my birthday, and I had more important things to think about (Indian food and chai, OMG the chai) than other people’s blogs. Well, maybe not more important, but certainly more delicious. But now, it’s late Friday night when I’m putting this together, because myread more…

What I’m Reading: Middle Earth Edition

It’s Saturday! And at the time this goes live, I will be in a theater watching The Hobbit (non-3D version, as it gives C migraines). More importantly, I will have seen the 9 minute preview for Star Trek: Into Darkness. C and I are both geeks, and our geekiness overlaps quite a bit, but in this case, we’re a little different. He is super excited about The Hobbit and will enjoy the new Star Trek. Iread more…

What I’m Reading: Writing Edition

As many people know, November is National Novel Writing month, a time when people often challenge themselves to write a whole novel in a month, or at least 50,000 words. (Trust me, that’s a lot.) This year, I had a few blogging friends who participated in NaNoWriMo, and they wrote posts about what they learned from it. While I don’t take the challenge, blogging for me is as much about the act of writing as itread more…

What I’m Reading: Quick & Dirty Edition

Quick and Dirty not because I didn’t read any blogs this week, and not because I don’t love writing round ups, but because I am not yet over this cough, and I’m about to kick the boys out of the house for a few hours, and I can’t wait to go curl up in bed with the puppies and watch bad TV. Luckily, doggies got a full hour at the dog park this morning, and areread more…

What I’m Reading: Saturkeyday Edition

It’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I’m going to be spending a good portion of the day at a Saturkeyday celebration with friends. Not quite the “family” I spend the actual day with, but pretty close. I am blessed to be able to celebrate my thankfulness twice.   As you all know, I am thankful for the people and pets in my life. And not just my pets. One of the highlights of tomorrow will be takingread more…

What I’m Reading: Looking Professional Edition

Next Friday, my company is putting on a Women in Leadership Symposium. I am part of the planning committee for this event (growing my professional network and all) and am very excited. I very much want to put my best foot forward, and that means looking professional as part of it. On Friday, I bought a new blazer- it’s a lovely red that will go with all of my work pants, and a couple sizes smallerread more…

Next week…

There is no blog round-up today because I did not read any blogs this last week- none, not even my favorites. It was not a supremely busy week nor was it a rough week. In fact, I think it may have been one of the most even keel weeks I’ve had in a while. And I kind of took a mini-vacation, enjoying not having to do much, including read. It was a break I needed. Atread more…

What I’m Reading: Grey Skies

Knowing that October was going to be a stress filled month at work, I made plans early on to make this weekend a 4 day weekend. So far, it’s been fabulous. I left the house briefly yesterday, but otherwise, have no plans to do so again until Tuesday when I go back to work- unless the skies clear up enough to make a dog park run look realistic. For now, though, puppies are curled up sleepingread more…
