Houses that are not for us
We are currently in the early stages of house hunting, with a plan to move this summer. I love to look at houses (both in person and online), so I am casting a pretty wide net with the search. Sometimes there are houses that for one reason or another are absolutely not right for us, but that have some kind of space or feature that I love anyway. I thought I would share some of those spaces.
Look at these matching built in window seats. I don’t mind the scratches in the finish, that actually just adds to the charm. The house itself was more expensive than I would want for the area it is in, and had multiple different square feet totals, but this space, I love this space.
I love the thick glass wall, and the light it gives to this room. The house itself is a total fixer-upper, and more money than I would want to spend for the amount of work that needs to be done. But I would totally have a glass walled living room.
I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for the wood/exposed beam ceilings. And the wood floors and yellow on the walls really keep the whole area looking warm and cozy to me. However, you may notice that this house has baseboard heat. Baseboard heat in a place with wet winters is an expensive plan (and often a recipe for mold), so we’ll be staying away.
Who wouldn’t be charmed by a fireplace in their master bath? Can’t you just imagine soaking away a wet winter day here? This house is a no based on it’s price, given it’s location. But if I ever buy new construction again, I may ask if I can have a fireplace with my soaking tub.
