What I’m Reading: Cross-Pollination

Starting today, I’m trying something new with my round-ups. From now on, I am writing one round-up post a week and it will include both personal finance and pet blogs. I’m writing it once and posting it on both sites. My goal is for 10 links- 8 blogs I already know and love (4 from each category) and 1 new to me blog from each category, as well. I’m hoping this will end up saving meread more…

What I’m Reading: Celebrating the Weekend

This weekend, I’m all about celebrating the good in my life. Next week at work is going to suck, because we will be announcing layoffs. But I don’t have to think about that just yet. Instead, I am celebrating budget season being over. I am celebrating starting today with a trip to the dog park with friends. While it’s wet out, we really didn’t get rained on that much in the hour we were there. Iread more…

What I’m Reading: About to Leave the House Edition

We have no theme this week, just blog posts I like. And since I have to leave the house in 30 minutes, this is going to be quick.   Daisy reminds us exactly what her blog is called Add Vodka with the Best Mixed Drinks You’ve Never Heard Of. These sound pretty good. But let me let you in on a little secret- you do not want to drink kiwi vodka. Just trust me on thatread more…

what i’m reading: new keyboard edition

There will only be capital letters today where word auto inserts them for me. I have a new keyboard and am having issues with the shift key. I figure I’ll get used to it eventually, but I don’t have time to argue with it today. I did actually have some chance to read blogs this week, amazingly enough, despite the crazy at work.   This week, I also started taking an online course through coursera. Luckilyread more…

What I’m Reading: Azeroth has Reclaimed Me Edition

I actually read a few blog posts this week. Not many, mind you, but some. Work world is still crazy. Our top candidate for the Director level position accepted our offer so that’s great, but I’m about to have a job open for an Associate Director position that I’ll be leading recruiting for, as well. (Luckily, this time, we have an awesome internal candidate in mind- let’s hope she’s interested.) In addition, I’m in budget landread more…

What I’m Listening To

There isn’t a What I’m Reading post today because, honestly, I haven’t read anything this week. Between doing the interviews for our Director position (hope to make an offer on Monday) and the start of the budget season at work, I haven’t had the energy for much more than a game of Bejeweled or two by the time I get home. For the record, I actually love this part of my job. I am GOOD atread more…

What I’m Reading: Kids and Family Edition

Today, we get to babysit a toddler for friends. The little angel demon (I know this child) will arrive around noon and will be at our house until tomorrow morning. C and I are both looking forward to it. When her mom asked if she could stay the night (so that mom and dad could not only have an afternoon, but a whole night to themselves) and I said yes without a second’s hesitation, she askedread more…

What I’m Reading: Getting the Car Serviced Edition

So far today, I’ve committed to paying over $2k for the 80k mile service on our car. This includes oil change, timing belt change, transmission service, and $50 to get some windshield chips repaired. This, by the way, was supposed to be our first “no plans, nothing we have to get done” weekend of the summer. And, I still need to get some mowing done. And probably a trip to the dog park. But tomorrow itread more…

What I’m Reading: Let’s Get To It Edition

Quick and dirty because I have to get to the dog park, do some shopping, and then drive to a baby shower an hour away.   So here are posts I loved this week   Crystal at Budgeting in the Fun Stuff has an update on how their new house is coming along. It makes me want to buy new construction again. Frugal Portland does some introspection to figure out What’s the Point to all thisread more…

What I’m Reading: Sharing the Smiles Edition

Today’s blogs are all posts that made me smile in some fashion or another. And since I like smiling, and like sharing smiles (hence why I’m also sharing a picture of the “Professional Show-Off” from Ren Faire last weekend), I thought I would share these posts with you. We know I’m a geek. This is not news, so the fact that Narrow Bridge Finance wrote a blog about personal finance in case of the Zombie Apocalypseread more…
