What I’m Reading: It’s Too Hot Edition

One of the things I like most about the Seattle area is that it doesn’t get hot, at least not really hot, on a regular basis. Having lived in eastern MT and northern NV, I’ve had my share of hot. I like temperate. To me, the temperature should stop going up once it hits 75. However, every once in a while, Seattle gets a blast of heat. This is that weekend. (Naturally, we have plans toread more…

Not Here Tonight (or Tomorrow Night)

I’d meant to get a post written this afternoon. It didn’t happen. We went to the local Farmers’ Market instead. We have game night tonight with one of C’s friends from school. Tomorrow we’re going to a pub to hear a local band play. That means no real substantive post until Tuesday, though I do intend to get a Sunday evening post in there, as well.

Taking a Moment to Remember

There’s won’t be a “What I’m Reading” post today because I’m hosting the Carnival of Financial Simplicity tomorrow. Due to that, and the weekend lasting through Monday, our regular Sunday Evening Post will be made Monday evening. What you may not know about me is that I come from a military family. My brother serviced, my father and uncles served, both of my grandfather’s served. C’s father and grandfathers served. J served. Memorial Day is aread more…

Sunday Evening Post Delayed Until Monday Morning

I am exhausted after a good but busy weekend, including much house and yard work today. And while thinks I might be addicted to blogging, I’m not. So the normal Sunday Evening post with spending for the last week will be posted Monday morning, so that I can do nothing for the rest of the evening and not worry about it.

Some gadgets are worth it

Our kitchen is full of gadgets. The hubby just got a waffle maker for his birthday. At Christmas, I got him an immersion blender. We have gadgets. Lots of gadgets. But while we like our gadgets, there are only two that have permanent places on our counter tops- and the toaster is not one of them. No, our two can’t live without gadgets are the rice maker and our electric kettle. And I could probably liveread more…

Chicken and Waffles

I am constantly inspired by Mrs. C at Another Housewife. In fact, I think, thanks to her, that in August I am going to challenge myself to posting everything we spend that comes out of our grocery budget, and maybe even figure out the cost of our meals at home. I love the pictures she posts of her family’s weekly meal, too, and so I am sharing this: About a month ago, the husband got itread more…
