It’s the Little Things
Howie sleeps in his little bed. Junebug sleeps next to C. Larry sleeps next to me. Much to Larry’s annoyance, I like to toss and turn before falling asleep. I always fall asleep in the same position, but that doesn’t meant I won’t flip over 10 times before I do. Whenever I move, Larry hops down from where he was and waits for me to settle. He then jumps back up on the bed and paws at the blankets so that I can let him under. He then plops his little body down, with as much force as he can, against my stomach or back, or the crook of my legs, wherever he wants to be at the moment.
When I turn over again, he’ll repeat the process. But that’s the important part- no matter how often I toss and turn, he always comes back. He always wants to spend the night curled up right against me. And I’ll be honest, I love the feel of that little body pressed up against mine.
I know in the summer I’ll complain because he’s such a good little heater (and in the winter I’ll complain because he doesn’t want to settle on my feet, which are always cold), but the truth is, I always want to sleep with him curled up next to me, too.
I love it when Junebug deigns to cuddle with me, and I try to give Howie plenty of cuddle time too, but it’s just not bed time if Larry isn’t under the covers pressed up against me.
