Each One Changes Our Life
We switch to daylight savings time in just over two weeks. For the first time in my life, I am looking forward to the switch. Not only am I happy it’s happening, I’m happy it’s happening this early in the year.
The reason I usually don’t like the switch to DST is that I like having light in the morning. I do. Living in the northern part of theUS, it’s finally started being light by the time I leave my house. I like the light. It makes it so much easier to start the day. More than “losing” an hour of sleep, I dislike being plunged back into morning darkness.
And I’ll be honest, I still don’t like that. My reasons for hating the switch to DST still exist. And yet, I can’t wait.
Every dog is different. We know that. You can’t expect your new dog to behave like your old dog. And we’ve purposely gotten dogs that were very different from the ones we’d recently lost. Larry has changed my world.
I am looking forward to daylight savings time because it means that almost daily dog park visits are going to be possible again. It won’t matter that C doesn’t get home until after 4pm two nights a week because it is still going to be light out. And on the other days of the week, decompressing for half an hour after I get home doesn’t then kill the opportunity for the dog park.
Now, until the weather starts drying up a bit, there won’t be daily dog park visits. I want to be honest about it. But, given the crazy that is my high energy terrier closed in the house over winter, I can’t wait simply for the opportunity to let him run on a regular basis.
