Animals Helping People: Pets2Vets

Today’s installment of Animals Helping People is also one of people helping animals. It is the very best kind of program, and one I am thrilled to profile here on Life by Pets.

Pets2Vets helps pair soldiers and veterans- many of whom have physical, mental, or emotional injuries –with shelter cats and dogs.

As I may have mentioned before, I am from a military family. As I know I have mentioned before, I am also from a family that is devoted to caring for animals. I believe a program like this, one that pairs animals who need love and a home with veterans who need love and a purpose, brings joy and happiness to all who are involved in it.

The program is still small, mostly centered in theWashingtonDCarea and growing along the East Coast. I would love to see it expand.

I would love to say more, but I think the stories of the veterans tell it best. Hop on over to their Heroes Helped & Pets Saved page and read a few of the stories. If they don’t bring a tear to your eye, I don’t know what will.

I really enjoyed this article! It's amazing how much a dog can impact someone's life. You should check out "Rex and the City" by Lee Harrington; it's a great story about how adopting a dog can change your life.
