A Walk Around the Blogs- Visiting Old Friends
I have a new job, one that is within walking distance of my favorite restaurant. On Friday, I took myself out to lunch there. On my walk back to work, I saw a young woman walking two dogs- a Shiba Inu and a Basenji. Naturally, I thought of MC and the House of Two Bows. (This Basenji was black and white, so obviously not Bowpi, but I still thought of them.) In fact, that’s what inspired this week’s round-up – Old Friends We Have Not Visited in a While.
The first stop, naturally, is the House of Two Bows, where we learn about Bowpi’s sound sensitivity (but luckily she does okay during the fireworks).
Next stop, Alaska, where Kari of Dog is God in Reverse lets us know they are still alive and enjoying the summer.
Back in our home state of Washington, You Did What With Your Wiener introduces Keeping Up with K9 Kamp– a monthly challenge to help fight pet obesity.
I don’t know where they are, but they won’t be there for long. Moving day is near at Rumpydog. Moree especially always associated major cleaning with major change, so I remember one time I was cleaning the spare bedroom in preparation for a visitor, sitting on the floor cross-legged while using spot remover, when Moree (who was 55lbs) decided to come sit in my lap, not something he normally did.
And in North Dakota, we must say Congratulations, Tumbler! The resident foster cat over at That Mutt got adopted. I think that may be one of my favorite phrases to type.
On to our financial blogging friends.
Jackie at Money Crush asks Are you undervaluing your skills? As someone who was recently in a job search, I can tell you, this is a great question to be thinking about.
American Debt Project gives us her July 1 Reality Check-In. She’s *this* close to being out of debt, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her later this month.
Not that this is anything I want to think about (my parents are still young- or at least I want to think they are), but Marie of Family Money Values gives us a great post on The Help Aging Parents Want.
Having just started a new job, I am still working on building relationships both with my new boss and my new staff members. But I do know that having a good relationship with your boss is invaluable. Over at What Your Boss Really Thinks, Aloysa points out that having a good working relationship can also help save money on your mortgage.
We end our visits with old friends with Squirrelers (or “SQUIRREL!”as the dogs would say). Take a look at the 5 Financial Lies People Tell Themselves and ask yourself- are you lying?
And while new to me blogs don’t quite fit with the overall theme of visiting old friends, I’ve decided to add to some confusion by sharing Dakota’s Den (she’s a gorgeous Sheltie) right at the time the she is moving – to her own domain. How exciting.
And speaking of moving, the newest Yakezie challenger, Andrew at Living Rich Cheaply and his wife are moving on to a new phase of their lives- being parents and living on one income. Welcome, congratulations, and wishing you all the best.
