Thankful Thursday

I was going to write a post complaining about the annoyances of summer time “outs”, as all three dogs always want to go, but then I got an invitation from Cokie the Cat to join his Thankful Thursday blog hop, and I decided thankful > complaining.

So what am I thankful for today? That my parents ignored conventional wisdom and did not get rid of any of the pets, despite the fact that I was allergic to animal hair as a baby. (More recent studies show that kids who are raised around animals have fewer allergies and less asthma than those raised in pet free homes.) Back in the 1970s, though, people thought you should dump the animals. My parents kept the dog, and the cat, and I grew out of the allergies, and into a person that can’t imagine a life not lived side by side with my pets.
