Counter surfing

June 27, 2011 | Filed under: Stories

Moree was very good at counter surfing. There was a time that if you were called for dinner, and when you made it out to the kitchen 5 minutes later, if there was no dinner left for you, that was your problem.
But I got used to that, and moved to houses where it was possible to put the food far enough away from the edge that Moree couldn’t get it.
However, I have recently grown complacent. Junebug tries to counter surf, and she can stretch a pretty good ways, but I know her limits. This weekend, I learned that I need to take Larry’s height in to consideration, too. I had the pizza set what I thought was a good ways back- far enough back that June couldn’t get it. But then I looked over just in time to see Larry almost dragging it off the counter. I stopped him before pizza met the floor, but not before he got a little pizza.
