Weight Issues

I’ve never had a dog that needed to gain weight before. We got really good at doggie diets, helping Moree and Smokey lose weight. June currently needs to lose a couple pounds to, but I know how to do that.

Larry, on the other hand, needs to gain weight. He eats anything that gets put in front of him. We’re feeding him a little more than feeding recommendations for his size and giving him treats. But it seems like his hip bones are becoming more pronounced, not less.

He doesn’t appear to have worms (though I’m at a point where I want to take a stool sample in to the vet to double check), but he just can’t seem to put on the weight. His metabolism is just that high.

Its tempting to give him less exercise, but we know that would cause behavior problems, since he’s such a high energy dog.

I guess for now, he’ll just keep getting a little extra food, and we’ll keep upping that extra amount until he puts on a pound.
