Pet Paranoia
Beelzebub died of stomach cancer. Moree ate a quarter of a bath towel, which then obstructed his bowels. So I’m a little paranoid when my dogs start changing the way they’re eating.
Smokey, my “you’re starving me” dog, has recently decided he’s not that hungry. Now, its likely because he’s getting older and not expending as much energy. And, there’s a chance we got a bad batch of food.
We got a new type of dog food, and for the first couple meals of it, he was super excited by the food, and then he went back to his not quite eating all of it, not eating when the food’s put down activities of recent months.
In this case, I’m wondering if the food went a little stale. We still have the old food in the bin, and have left the new food in an open bag. We need to decide if we’re throwing out the old food or not, and then get the next bag of new food in a cleaned out bin.
But just in case, we switched out his plastic bowl for a ceramic one. We put in up on a shoebox so he doesn’t have to bend so far to eat.
We’re pretty sure there’s not cancer because very shortly before his eating habits changed, he had a complete blood work up when his back went out.
Still, I watch him carefully, and occasionally put some extra yummy treats in with the food so that I know he eats something.
