Our Sometimes Third Dog

January 12, 2011 | Filed under: Stories
Miss Molly is a 15lb Caern terrier who belongs to a dear friend of mine. She comes over to visit just about any time he does, and we are her default pet sitters. She is always a total joy to have around.
When Molly came over to visit Smokey and Moree, she instantly ruled the roost. Both of my boys knew better than to argue with a woman, despite being approximately 4 times her size. It never failed to amuse to see her come in and put the boys in their place.
With Junebug, it’s a little bit different. June loves to play and is thrilled beyond belief to get to be the “big dog” in the playing. Molly plays with her, but tires a little easily, being a number of years older than June. Luckily, she can easily run and jump in somebody’s lap for protection from the little (but bigger than her) menace.
Besides extra socialization for both of my dogs, the real joy of Molly is that at her size, she fits neatly on the bed with the rest of us.
